KANGANA: The New MUSE of BOLLYWOOD

When the timeless diva, Madhuri Dixit said that there are two actresses who have all the spunk to reach the top, one of them being Konkona, and the other being KANGANA, she was definitely not wrong. Kangana Ranaut has just proved that a girl next door can have all the qualities of a “SUPERSTAR OF FUTURE”. Her eyes are her greatest asset and she uses it to the extreme and all her performances have touched the pinnacles of supreme talent. The way she emotes on screen has left the audiences asking more of Kangana. Whether it’s a Geetanjali Nagpal or a Carol Gracias character, she has lived them both in Fashion and with a vengeance. With not too many dialogues in Fashion for her, still she has outlived and outperformed with her eyes and the way they emote.

It’s Anurag Basu who have captured the beauty and moulded her to fit in various shades of character, be it a troubled lover of a gangster or schizophrenic actress a la “Parveen Babi” or an ambitious girl searching for love in “Life in a Metro”, Kangana have done justice to all these characters. But, it’s Shonali Gujaral of FASHION which will be considered as one of the best performances of Kangana and off course the Indian Cinema. When people talk about the highest paid actresses like Katrina or Kareena, I wonder how many of them have done such intense characters in the beginning of their career and have won accolades for their great acting. Leave aside the crap, moving and dancing around trees, romancing with SRK in a Adi Chopra movie, and then you have someone else who showcases her potential in all her movies, be it small or big budget, that’s Kangana Ranaut for you!!!!

The next thing in her kitty is “Kites” with the actor of greek looks, Hrithik along with Barbara Mori which is the next best thing to happen in the future. Believe me or not, “K” is the flavour of the season and if there is one “K” who is enjoying limelight, then it’s Kangana for sure…

“FASHIONABLE” MADHUR excels again!!

It’s not about showing larger than life movies like KJo, or showing a wedding saga like Barjatya’s, but it’s showing about LIFE in movies. And, who better than Madhur Bhandarkar can show “LIFE” in REEL which touches your LIVES in REAL. Three times National Award winner, Madhur knows exactly what he wants to show. At the end of three hours, what audience carries back home is something more than entertainment!! Fashion is a movie which peeks into the reality behind the glittering walls of fashion industry. Fashion is not about models walking on ramps or showing their skin on screen but it’s an emotional catharsis of a girl who aspires to be a model and her journey in the industry.

Madhur’s movies right from Chandni Bar to Fashion are masterpiece in themselves. There’s always a bit of intelligence which gets reflected in his movies. The research that goes behind in making his movies is immense which makes every scene of the movie watchable and nothing appears faking. Whether its homosexuality, casting couch, artificiality, doping, Madhur has always tried his best to showcase them on screen, which is a brave attempt in itself. The irony is though his movies touches social issues and is being like by everyone, no one gives it a serious thought on those issues. Madhur is one film maker whose films contribute education to the society. It’s time for people just not to stand and applaud his movies but also to accept these social issues and work for a solution. May be the real success of his movies would lie when people will just not watch the movie and think about it but when they would work on this. Madhur certainly deserves a standing ovation; his movies are not just a visual treat but also a differentiator between “Quality movies” and “Just another movie”. We love you Madhur, and definitely waiting to watch “JAIL”…..

Farhan says "ROCK ON!!!"

This is my third blog and perhaps the most interesting one. I will talk about Bollywood movies, tadka maarke!! I will only talk about movies which are worth mentioning and has something to say and what better can be to start with one of the most talented directors of our industry, the youth icon, man with innumerable abilities, the very versatile FARHAN AKHTAR!!! To be honest, I was not keen to watch his directorial debut "DIL CHAHATA HAI"; in fact, I watched it after a year. Seeing the hoardings, i thought it to be just another movie filled with fun, flirt, songs, dance, so on and so forth. But, to my surprise, it was not the case. His movies portray “PASSION”, from Dil Chahata Hai to ROCK ON!!, Farhan’s movies hold audience interest only because he can portray "Passion" beautifully. The narration and detailing that goes behind his movies is simply amazing. If Dil Chahata Hai speaks of passion towards friendship, then LAKSHYA highlights passion towards our country, if DON symbolizes passion in “remake with a style”, then ROCK ON!! is passion about one’s dreams.

Farhan knows his job well and the best part about his movies are it’s exciting bundled with emotions. I have watched ROCK ON!! four times because of the sheer curiosity to understand his way of story telling to the audience. Though he is not the director of ROCK ON!!, still I would give all the credit for the film’s success. One of the common things his films depict is the “YOUTH CULTURE”. His movies always give a reason to today’s youth to have a common goal, be passionate whether it’s your work or relationship. Achieving dreams is not always a difficult job, when you hold your dream day in and day out without closing your eyes and Farhan is one such guy, an inspiration for today’s youth. Way to go, FARHAN, you really rock!!!!!!
